Wecandoo, the French leader in creative experience, has announced a first round of funding of €3.2 million from Breega and Educapital.

Founded in 2017 by Edouard Eyglunent, Grégoire Hugon and Arnaud Tiret, the social enterprise Wecandoo‘s mission is to reconnect the public with the artisans who shape the objects of our daily lives. Pushing the doors of a craftsman’s workshop, learning about his know-how and leaving with a creation: three key steps that raise awareness about « better consumption ».

The start-up, which defines itself as a collective of craftsmen, relies today on a solid network of 1,200 partner artisans, who offer more than 2,300 workshops in 30 cities in France. Each week, an average of 2,000 participants are welcomed in these workshops. Thanks to this contribution, Wecandoo will be able to offer its services in 20 new French cities and then expand internationally: in Belgium, Switzerland and Spain. More than 4,000 artisans will join the collective in the coming years.

« Craft often suffers from a high price perception, the objective of the workshops is to allow the public to meet an artisan, to learn about a skill and thus better understand the value of a handmade local product. Covid has strongly accelerated this desire to consume local and more responsible products » says Edouard Eyglunent, co-founder of Wecandoo.

« France has a tremendous pool of artisanal know-how and 50% of new artisanal activities are created through reconversion. We were seduced by the potential of the training offer developed by Wecandoo, whether for fun or professional purposes » explains Marie-Christine Levet, co-founder of Educapital.

« With the Covid-19 crisis and successive lockdowns, consumers – more aware of environmental and societal issues – are now looking for more meaning. Wecandoo, with its offer of artisanal learning workshops, fits perfectly into this movement. Breega is delighted to accompany this dynamic and motivated team in their mission to become the leader in the experience sector », says François Paulus, Founding Partner at Breega.
